Audacity is a sound editor. It is free and can be downloaded to either Mac or Windows. It allows you to record sound directly on your computer.

Garage Band is Apple's sound studio.It allows you to record sound and easily convert it to a format used in podcasts.

For portable recording,use a digital recorder or an iPod. Microphone for using an iPod to record

Digital Cameras allow you to transfer video to the computer. In Windows, you can edit the movie with Windows Moviemaker (free download for Windows XP)

On Mac, use iMovie

 

 

Web hosting options: Your school most likely offers free webspace to students and faculty. If you prefer to use an outside server (for example, if you're job-hunting outside of your institution), check your Internet Service Provider, for example, Verizon offers 10 MB of web space. If you don't have that option, a number of other services can be bought or used for free.

To get a free html editing program:

Download Mozilla to get a suite of Internet programs, one of which is Composer, which will allow you to edit html pages. After downloading, go to the "Window" pull don menu at the top and choose "Composer" Open the first file called index.html in your directory that you downloaded to your flash drive or desktop. You can make changes in the page now. Use the tabs at the bottom to change views. For detailed instructions see this page
